Tea Party Spreads Disinformation and Distortion of the Truth

This is a response to an email sent out by Bob Turner of the Clermont County Tea Party

“Dave is an Ohio Township resident and a Tea Party supporter, as well as a member of the Republican Party Central Committee himself. He also serves as the party's treasurer. Dave has an impressive, which will come in handy tackling the $4 million deficit that Clermont County currently has.”

Tea Party fails to mention that the looming deficit is a result partially a result of former Tea Party Commissioner Archie Wilson giving 3% raises to county employees in a time in which we should have been doing pay freezes. No doubt it will be further compounded next year when Tea Party candidate Vince Faris takes office as County Prosecutor (full Time) causing an increase in expenditures to that departments labor costs now that we will no longer have a part time prosecutor on a part time salary. That is unless they lay people off? So I hope Mr. Uible can exercise the “Fiscal Responsibility” that the Tea Party advocates but has yet to deliver in practice.

“Last night also had a dramatic twist. Candidate Jack Kuntz announced that he was removing himself from consideration for the appointment. The former Goshen Township Trustee asked his supporters to back Uible. Kuntz expressed his desire to do the right thing for the county, and, since he and Uible shared many of the same supporters, he did not want to split the vote by remaining a candidate. This type of selfless act is rare in politics today, and is something to be admired and encouraged.”

Wow, way to distort the truth. What actually happened is what is commonly referred to as a “back room deal.” In this case the Tea Party decided to drop their candidate Jack Kuntz and support Dave Uible instead. It was far from a selfless act. Rather, Mr. Kuntz found he no longer had the support from the Tea Party and Liberty PAC and accepted the fact that without that support he would not get the appointment. It was a calculated move by the Tea Party where an unfavorable candidate is switched at the last minute for a more recognizable candidate without sufficient time for organized opposition… the classic back room deal.

“Many of us got involved in the Tea Party because we were tired of self-serving politicians…”

Congratulations now you have created a self serving party.

Don't Drink the TEA!

March 14th 7PM the Republican Central Committee had their meeting to appoint a new Clermont County County Commissioner. Little did some no that it had already been decided by the Clermont County Tea Party/Clermont County Liberty PAC. How could this be? Well, let me set the time line of events that led to Dave Uible's appointment to the commissioner seat vacated by Archie Wilson.

February 2nd 2012 Archie Wilson resigns creating a vacancy to be filled by the Clermont County Republican Central Committee.

February 23rd 2012 Stuart Kennedy, Central Committee member from Union Township O and the Treasurer of the Clermont Liberty PAC, sent an email:

"I wanted to make sure you knew you are invited to attend an event the Clermont Liberty PAC is hosting next Tuesday, February 28 at 7:00PM at the Holiday Inn Eastgate. The event will be featuring Jack Kuntz who is one of the candidates interested in the appointment to the open County Commissioner position... By attending, no one is asking you to vote for Jack or for us to assemble any block votes... Some have suggested the Clermont Liberty PAC should instead host an event with all 11 (currently known)candidates. Such a large meeting would be difficult to facilitate due to the volume of candidates. Assuming 15-20 minutes of introduction per candidate, the meeting would take well over three hours, and this assumes no open time for questions... The Clermont Liberty PAC has chosen to provide this opportunity for committee members to learn about Jack Kuntz."

Remember they are NOT trying to create a voting block...

February 28th 2012 Liberty PAC Hosts Candidate Night for One.

Remember they are NOT trying to create a voting block...

March 10th 2012 Eric Kelso, Central Committeeman for Monroe Township Precinct F hosted a "Candidate Meet and Greet" which 8 of the final 10 candidates chose to participate, and 30 Central Committeemen attended. It was hosted for all candidates with very little trouble and at a cost of less than $5.

But don't forget the Liberty PAC:

"Such a large meeting would be difficult to facilitate due to the volume of candidates."

Hmm... one person organized an event that a PAC could not do, with introductions, and time for questions a far cheaper cost of less than $5 since the Union Township Community Center had use of a free room. 5 Tea Party members were in attendance and asked the same 5 questions of each candidate and then after conferring in the hall came back and asked more questions. It was later reported to me that these same 5 where seen later in the parking lot arguing.

Remember they are NOT trying to create a voting block...

March 13th 2012 Dave Uible announces his candidacy for the appointment. If the name sounds familiar its because he ran, and lost, against incumbent Barb Wiedenbein in the March 6th primary as a Liberty PAC endorsed candidate.

But wait, why would their be two Tea Party candidates running? Something is up.

March 14th 2012 7PM at the meeting, remember they are NOT trying to create a voting block. Jack Kuntz stands up to give his 3 minute speech, but wait this one is completely different from all the others.

"I had the support of two groups when I started, but in an 11th hour switch I found I no longer have their support, and that they are now supporting Dave Uible."

With that he stepped out of the race and asked anyone still supporting him to vote for Dave Uible.

Hmm... two groups? Could that be the Tea Party and the Liberty PAC?

Votes came in:

Round 1 Uible 62 Votes next closest was 21 votes.
Round 2 Uible 70 Votes
Round 3 Uible wins.

Remember they were NOT trying to create a voting block...

A voting block they did create, as evident not only by the vote totals, but you could look over and see (Union Township in particularly) a solid group hooting and hollering above the customary clapping.

We can NOT have parties within parties!

Clermont County Republican Central Committee Members

This event is NOT sponsored by any candidate or committee, but rather is being provided by myself and other committee members who would like to provide an opportunity for Central Committee members to meet with all the candidates and ask any questions they may have.

March 14th we will make one of the most important decisions as Central Committeemen; the appointment to a vacancy. We owe it to the citizenry of Clermont County to ensure that the best person possible gets the job. To that end this event has been created, because we all know a more informed electorate makes more informed decisions.

The schedule for this event is designed to allow a brief 2-3 min. introduction from each candidate;

10:30 AM – 11:15 AM Introduction of Candidates

“Name, Occupation, From (City, village township), and an answer to ‘Why do you want to be a Clermont County Commissioner?’”

11:15 AM – 2:15 PM Is a three hour window provided for Committeemen to make their rounds around the room where each candidate will have a table, and be waiting to answer any questions you may have.

We chose to have this event on a Saturday because of the election week. I know we will all be out their working hard on March 6th, and could use some time to recover from that.

Central Committee members are free to come and go as your schedule permits. Drop in anytime between 10:30 AM and 2:15 PM to ask your questions and meet the candidates.

Anyone that can help with set up and tear down please let me know.

Thank you and we hope to see you there!

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Tea Party Misinformation on 55KRC

Scott Nichols was on the Brian Thomas show on 55KRC spreading mistruths again about the incumbent candidates, and the endorsement meeting of the Clermont County Republican Central Committee.  Yes when asked incumbent candidates did say that they would not bow out of the race if not endorsed, that's true.  Why should they?

It's a PRIMARY ELECTION NOT A GENERAL ELECTION.

Scott Nichols said that Clermont County incumbents said "They would run against the endorsed candidate."  To the average person on the street this means they will run against the endorsed candidate in the general election, and that is simply not the case.

Incumbent candidates who do not win the PRIMARY can NOT run in the General Election, and they have every right to stay in the PRIMARY race.

Scott Nichols fails to do his research on the GOP rule change as well.  Brian Thomas had a guest on earlier that stated there are indeed exemptions to the rule:

Voters who were not old enough to have voted in previous elections.

Voters who moved from other states will haft to show they meet the requirements based on their voting from their home state.

Scott repeatedly tried to indicate that this rule would disenfranchise those who have served in the military on active duty.  ALL military active duty have the opportunity to vote absentee from there home state; there for the rule does NOT disenfranchise active duty military.

Scott Nichols wrong, misleading, and not the right choice for us.

The Truth from the Tea Party Itself!

Proof from the Tea Party itself that it doesn't matter if an incumbent has done a good job or not there gunning for you! Why replace those who have served the county well, and held faithfully to the party principles?

"As you have heard me note, when it comes to local politics, the primary is the most important election in Clermont County. Why?

Because it has been years and years since a local Democrat or Independent challenger has won a contested race in a general election here. The primary decides nearly all contests.

If we keep electing the same old people and expecting different results, we are in for more disappointment and will continue leaving our nation in peril.

Multi-term incumbents grow further and further from the people as their positions become more and more entrenched. Why listen to constituents when you know you'll be reelected no matter what?

It is very difficult to push over a pyramid from the top. You have to start at the bottom. We need a re-set across all levels of government and a new group of principled
representatives to help begin rebuilding our country.

We are such a conservative stronghold here in Clermont! We should send forward principled leaders who will stand on the foundation of support we can provide. Not doing so makes about as much sense as entering a Yugo in the Indy 500.

Over 80% of districts across the country are one party dominated. Congress' approval rating is around 10-12%. Yet, nearly 84% of incumbents will be re-elected to office!

The people are allowing themselves to be fooled. They must wake up and begin breaking the ties that bind them. Any qualified challengers can step up in a primary. The question is whether the people will give those challengers a chance to win."
